Helal Ahammad
ABARE-BRS
Dr Helal Ahammad is Chief Analyst, Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics –Bureau of Rural Sciences (ABARE-BRS). As the Chief Analyst, he helps set up the strategic direction of ABARE-BRS’ research program particularly in the area of climate change and the environment. Helal’s research has also covered issues in agricultural and resources economics and international trade, involving innovative applications of Computable General Equilibrium models and Integrated Assessment models. Helal has published in international refereed journals. His recent contribution to the Australian Government’s climate change policy development process includes the economic analysis of policy scenarios for the DAFF, the Australian Treasury, the Garnaut Review, and the Prime Ministerial Task Group on Emissions Trading. He has been nominated a Lead Author for the Fifth Assessment Report of Working Group III of the IPCC. Helal previously held research and/or teaching positions at The Australian National University and the University of Western Australia.
